Sullivan Owen Floral Design Class

Last week I went back home to visit my family for Thanksgiving in Philadelphia. I was lucky enough to be able to take a floral design class with Sullivan Owen. This was the centerpiece I made in her class.

She does an amazing job of choosing different textures and coming up with unique color palettes. I learned so much about creating shape and movement vs. making a perfectly symmetrical design. I'm going to aim to create more lovely pieces like this one in the future!

Fall Florals

I had a great time creating some fall inspired florals for one of my 2013 brides. I used orange roses in various shades, burgundy dahlias, craspedia, antique hydrangeas, sunflowers, fern shoots, bittersweet and some seeded eucalyptus.

By the time November rolls around, I feel like people start getting ready for Christmas and tend to forget about fall. Here are some of my favorite ways to incorporate fall into your wedding/event. Pie, donuts, s'mores, beautiful dessert tables and tablescapes! Enjoy!

I've come across some really lovely fall floral designs lately. They're not your literal translation of fall but more of an artsy take on the season. The top two are from Sarah Winward from Honey of a Thousand Flowers. I could get lost in all of her beautiful floral design. Her work is so inspiring!
